How to Prevent Stretch Marks

Ready! Set! Grow!

One day you are peeing on a stick finding out you are pregnant and the next you can’t see your toes! Well, at least that’s what it has felt like for me. It is literally shocking to me how a women’s body can grow so quickly. I am currently 8 months (32 weeks to be exact) pregnant and l can’t fathom how fast it has flown by. That being said, it is crucial to take good care of your skin and make it a part of your daily routine to prevent stretch marks. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Can’t stress it enough. Every night after the shower I do a complete rub down from my face to my toe, literally. My main focus areas are the 3 B’s…Boobs, Butt and of course, the Belly. Being honest, those are unfortunately the areas that have grown the most.  I am going to share with you the 4 main products I use to stay moisturized and help make the 9 month stretch as painless as possible.

  • Coconut oil – Has so many benefits it’s amazing! One of the main benefits is skin care. It is high in Vitamin E and great for promoting collagen production. I bought a huge jar of it and use it to massage and moisturize my body every night. I absolutely love the smell of it too! Makes me feel like I’m in the Caribbean. *Side note: this is great as a postpartum nipple moisturizer too because you don’t have to worry about the infant ingesting it during breast feedings.  Click here to buy yours
  • Mama Bee Belly Butter by Burts Bees – I started using this as soon as my belly started showing. I use this in conjunction with the coconut oil daily. For those that are sensitive to fragrance, you will be happy to know this belly butter really doesn’t have a scent. Click here to buy yours
  • Massage Cream for Stretch Marks by Palmers –  This is great for those days you feel your belly is starting to itch from stretching. I lather this on for something thicker than coconut oil and belly butter. It contains Vitamin E, Collagen, Elastin and shea butter.  Click here to buy yours
  • Moroccan Argan Body Oil by Arganistry – Argan oil is probably one of the rarest oils in the world with lots of health benefits. It is similar to coconut oil except that it is not as greasy and has an even higher vitamin E content. Argan oil helps as an anti-aging skin treatment and moisturizer. I use this instead of the coconut oil if I’m going out right after. What I love about this oil is it absorbs into your skin quickly and doesn’t leave an oily residue. Click here to buy yours

These are my four go-to products to avoid stretch marks during pregnancy. Luckily, they worked for my first pregnancy and I’m hoping they continue to work throughout my second!
